The Saudis have the atomic

Saudi Arabia has nuclear weapons. Arab sources believe that the news is not a scoop but that the West, after having endorsed the choice, was aware of the military quality leap of Riad starting from the 2013.

Pakistan is behind the Saudi nuclear issue. On this column we have dedicated some insights to Islamabad and the jihadist galaxy that revolves around and on behalf of the ISI, theInter Service Intelligence (the Pakistani Services).

In exchange for preferential lanes for the supply of crude oil, Pakistan would have supervised the Saudi nuclear growth, reinforcing the decades-long link between the two countries.

The special relations between Riyadh and Islamabad have found fertile ground for further strategic consolidation in Afghanistan, where Ri'asat Al-Istikhbarat Al-'Amah the Saudi services and the ubiquitous ISI have had carte blanche since the 80 years and throughout the Soviet occupation period.

CIA terminals for theCyclone operation, the Pakistanis, in concert with the Saudis, have allowed and nurtured the growth of Islamist groups throughout Afghanistan. From the fundamentalist galaxy translated over time from the anti-Soviet resistance to the Jihad not surprisingly, it was not by chance that Al Qaeda emerged, whose leader Bin Laden and whose bank accounts were and are Saudis.

In the 90 years, the birth and development of the Taliban regime revolved around Pakistani funding and Sunni inspiration waahbita, whose cradle in the Islamic world is really Arabia.

Not for nothing the first to recognize in the '97 the fundamentalist government of Kabul were Islamabad and Riyadh ...

But all this, more or less, is already known.

If anything, the new food for thought is the international context that has changed in the meantime.

Online Defense has devoted much space to the geopolitical growth of Saudi Arabia in recent years:

  • the disturbing pan-Islamic exercise Northern Storm organized on the border with Kuwait, as proof of the pre-eminent military political role assumed by Riad in the Syrian crisis;
  • direct and indirect support for terrorists of Al Nusra, Jaysh al-Islām, Ahrar ash-Sham, Jaysh Al-Fatah in Syria;
  • the war in Yemen, where Riad openly fights in the almost silent Western media;
  • the enigmatic call to arms against terrorism for all States considered Islamic (Sunni ...) (read article);

Now the almost official atomic weapon (and upcoming tests).

The embarrassment comes from the fact that anonymous Saudi sources seem to have declared that the nuclear deterrent "Serves to defend Muslims in the world". As we have been arguing for months, is it possible that Riyadh will take office to extend its regional rule to all Islamic countries? Should the Saudi evolutions be read in an anti-Iranian key or is there more that is brewing?

In the period of greatest uncertainty in the American foreign policy of the last 40 years, there is a very strong Sunni axis between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, to which is added Erdogan's Turkey, a crazed NATO splinter and a source of many headaches in the West. In this regard, the following are emblematic social of the Turkish and Pakistani Armed Forces, where dozens of reciprocal credits between users are noted pack and Ottomans.

Meanwhile, while awaiting the texts of Riad, we are also waiting for Israel, which for many months has been muted in an increasingly hot Middle Eastern scenario.
