Shooters Chosen in training

Improvement of the distance shooting, self-assessment of the shooters selected through the use of the different weapons supplied and conduct of a night-time orienteering activity with training in stations.

This was the purpose of the "Devil's bullseye", the drill for selected shooters conducted by the 8 at the 18 April in the Experimental and Inter-Force Training Camp of Salto di Quirra (PISQ).

The exercise, conceived by the "Acqui" Division Command and developed by the "Sassari" brigade under the supervision of the Infantry School, saw the participation of 11 groups of sharpshooters, about 50 soldiers, from the "Acqui" division departments, together with some teams under the 2nd and 3rd Alpine Regiments and al 152 ° Regiment de Infanterie "Diables Rouges" of the French army.

The main weapons used during the exercise were, in addition to the Sako TRG42 and BARRETT sniper rifles, the Beretta 92 FS pistol and the ARX 200 rifle for experienced shooters, reaching to hit targets up to 1.475 meters away. The training had its culmination in the planning, organization and conduct of a continuous activity carried out in the presence of the commander of the PISQ, general of air division Giorgio Francesco Russo, and of the commander of the brigade "Sassari", brigadier general Andrea Di Stasio .

In this last phase, the nuclei of the shooters chosen, infiltrated and exfiltrated by helicopter, have developed on the ground not only their own shooting skills but also exercised procedures and techniques such as the hidden movement of approach (stalking), the observation of a scenario operational prepared ad hoc and coordination with the higher-level Command.

The training conducted favored a fruitful exchange of experiences between the personnel belonging to different departments and specialties of the Italian Army and the French Army colleagues, as well as having achieved the aim of increasing shooting skills in diversified operational scenarios and standardizing the basic equipment of the chosen shooters.
