In recent days, a complex cleanup activity from war devices found in the Cassano delle Murge area, within the Pasciuddo graveyard, at a depth of approximately 90 meters underground, was concluded.

The particularly delicate reclamation was carried out by the bomb disposal experts of the 11th sappers engineer regiment of Foggia, a specialist unit employed by the "Pinerolo" mechanized brigade, in collaboration with the National Alpine Speleological Rescue Corps and involved the removal of 9 hand grenades from a karst cavity of considerable speleological interest which extends underground to a variable depth, reaching up to 110 meters and with a planimetric development of almost one kilometre.

The war remnants, once secured by the Army bomb squad and brought to the surface, were transported to a quarry where they were blasted.

The entire operation was coordinated by the prefecture of Bari, also involving the bomb squad of the state police, the firefighters, the carabinieri, the municipal police of Cassano delle Murge and the Italian Red Cross and ended without inconvenience to the population.
