NRDC-ITA transfers the responsibility of NRF

Yesterday, at the headquarters of the 1 ° German-Dutch Army Corps, in Munster (GER), in the presence of the commander of the Allied Terrestrial Command (LANDCOM) - general of army corps John Thomson - took place the ceremony that has ratified the passage of the witness in the command of the terrestrial component of the NATO Response Force (NRF) between the Nato Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy (NRDC-ITA) commanded by the army corps general Roberto Perretti and the 1 GNC, commanded by the general army corps Michiel van der Laan.

The NRDC-ITA has therefore transferred, after having held for the fourth time, the responsibility of leading the land component (Land Component Command) of the NATO Response Force after a long and articulated period, which lasted throughout 2018, which saw the engaged on various fronts to maintain a high level of individual staff preparation and consolidate work procedures. In fact, numerous activities were carried out both in the training and in the training field, in which NRDC-ITA also played the delicate role of training hub both nationally and allied, hosting a total of about 700 people.

The Nato Response Force, created in the 2002, is a complex of high-readiness, technologically advanced and highly trained forces, consisting of terrestrial, maritime, air, special forces and logistic support components, with personnel and vehicles provided in rotation by the Countries members, to enable the Alliance to respond promptly to all security challenges, from collective defense to crisis management.

Following the decisions taken at the 2014 Wales summit, the NRF was strengthened with a very high readiness rate of forces, called the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), extremely flexible and modular, capable of mobilizing immediately. In fact, at the same time as the handover as Land Component Command of the NRF between the two corps, the alternation ceremony as VJTF Land Brigade Commander was also held between Brigadier General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, commander of the 132nd armored brigade " Ariete ”, transferor, and Brigadier General Ulrich Spannuth, commander of the 9th German panzerlehr brigade, taking over.
