The command for the Training and Application School of the Army hosts the second stage of the photographic exhibition “Mogadishu – Somalia - Check Point Pasta 1993-2023”, inaugurated at the Military Academy of Modena in recent weeks.

The photographic exhibition provides a complete picture of the Somali situation in the period 1992 - 1994 and of the UN interventions to try to provide stability and security in the area; in particular, it focuses on the events that led to the firefight at the Check Point Pasta of 2 July 1993; retracing the missions of the Italian Army from the post-war period to the present day, providing the image of an Armed Force at the service of the country as well as committed to the defense of international peace and security.

The exhibition, curated by the Fondazione Ente Editoriale per l'Army, therefore intends to commemorate, thirty years after those events, the fallen second lieutenant Andrea Millevoi, sergeant major Stefano Paolicchi, corporal Pasquale Baccaro, awarded the Gold Medal for Valor Military, and remember the many wounded and decorated soldiers, including lieutenant colonel Gianfranco Paglia, wounded during the clashes in Mogadishu and for this reason awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valour.

The ribbon cutting, carried out by the commander of the Training Institute, Army Corps General Stefano Mannino, in the presence of the curator of the exhibition, Brigadier General (res.) Matteo Paesano and Lieutenant Colonel Gianfranco Paglia, was preceded by a conference in favor of the young officers attending the 201st and 202nd courses and represents a dutiful tribute to the sacrifice and daily commitment of our soldiers, but it is also and above all a cultural event with great social value.
