(To Army Majority State)
12/06/23

The "1000 Miglia" has begun, a historic automobile event in which the Army participates in a non-competitive form with two crews aboard car models from the Historical Museum of Military Motorization.

There will be more than 400 vintage cars that will cover the more than 2000 km divided into 5 stages this year. The city of Brescia, as per tradition, will host the start and finish of the event, while along the way stops will be made in the cities of Cervia – Milano Marittima, Rome, Parma, Milan and stops in other municipalities in the North and Center of Italy.

The Army, in order to enhance the historical traditions of military motorisation, will take part with the 1951 Fiat "Campagnola", in the "1951 reconnaissance car" version (AR 51) and the 2 Lancia Aprilia Berlina 1939nd series, designed precisely for the Mille Miglia, and used above all at the army headquarters and by officers of the general staff. Both are kept in the best condition and are eligible to participate in the event.

Iveco Defense Vehicles (IDV) will be ready to assist the two cars competing with a crew of technicians aboard a 4x4 MUV (Military Utility Vehicle), used in the configuration crew cab, which allows you to carry all the tools useful for assisting the cars during the race in the rear compartment.

Furthermore, the Armed Forces in this edition presents itself with a surprise. In addition to the crew of the AR 51 made up of soldiers, one made up of journalists will be deployed. Guido Meda, Claudia Conte, Andrea Romoli, Silvia Squizzato, Nicola Veschi and Valentina Bisti will take turns driving the Lancia Aprilia along the entire route and will document their experience at the "most beautiful race in the world".
