"Genova Cavalleria" (4th) and "Lancieri di Novara" (5th) in training

The "Genova Cavalleria" regiment (4th) conducted a training activity in the Cellina-Meduna area which involved a heavy armor squadron and parts of the department's scouting squadron group, with the aim of training the heavy assets and light in tactical activities, typical of line cavalry, in day and night environments.

In particular, in the development of the activity, a blank phase was initially conducted, aimed at increasing individual and departmental technical-professional and coordination skills, continued with maintenance firing, carried out in the presence of the commander of the "Pozzuolo" brigade. of Friuli”, gen. b. Nicola Mandolesi.

The training activity culminated with the execution of a continuous nocturnal phase, during which the training scenario previously used in virtual mode on the VBS 3 (Virtual Battle Space 3) simulator was replicated on the ground. In this context, a heavy armor platoon, classified as a reserve of an ATF (Amphibious Task Force), was able to perfect its planning procedures and test them in the conduct of offensive (counter attack) and enabling (convoy escort) activities, together with a part of the logistics component of the regiment, in the general training context warfighting.

In the same days, at the Cellina-Meduna training area, the "Lancieri di Novara" regiment (5th), a unit included in the 132nd "Ariete" armored brigade, conducted a tactical group level fire exercise, called “Atena 24”, which allowed the department staff to test their operational potential.

In addition to the lancers, a battery of the 132nd "Ariete" artillery regiment was deployed to support the fire and assets of the "Ariete" logistics regiment, which ensured the functions of Rearm, Refuel, Resupply and Survey Point (R3SP). Both training activities were conducted with the coordination of the Northern Operational Forces Command.
