Bosch Firefighting Campaign: Aviation Army present!

(To Army Majority State)
15/06/18

Within the framework of the Bosch Firefighting Campaign (AIB) in favor of the Sicily Region, the 11 and the 12 June, two crews of the 2 ° Aviation regiment of the "Sirio" Army took off from Sigonella (CT) to the forest of San Pietro in the municipality of Caltagirone (CT) and in the municipality of Priolo Gargallo (SR) to intervene promptly against the fires that have affected these two areas.

The competition of the Army Aviation for the use of military helicopters as part of the AIB Campaign is part of an agreement between the Ministry of Defense, the Civil Protection Department and the Sicily Region. The coordination of fire-fighting operations is managed by the Department of Civil Protection and is guaranteed by the Regional Unified Operating Room (SOUR) in which the support functions for managing the fire risk are set up, allowing to ensure prompt intervention on the entire Region in order to minimize the damage caused by combustion.

It is right here, from SOUR, that requests for intervention to our units already deployed on the territory start. The aircraft, an HH-412 A, remains at the disposal of the requesting body until the end of its requirement and is coordinated in the intervention area by the Director of Extinguishing Operations (DOS). An imposing organizational machine in which the Army Aviation participates, in Sicily, with the 2nd "Sirio" Regiment.

The commitment of the Army Aviation in the Bosch Fire Fighting Campaign for the Sicily Region began the 7 June and will end the 31 October.
