The swimming world championships are taking place in Doha, a special edition, a few months after Paris 2024 which sees many changes in the regulations both in the diving sector and in artistic swimming

Among the protagonists of this world championship are our athletes from the Marina Militare sports group: Lorenzo Marsaglia and Sara Jodoin Di Maria in diving, Linda Cerruti, Sofia Mastroianni, Carmen Rocchino and Marta Iacoacci in synchro, Stefano Di Cola in swimming.

At the Paris Olympics, Lorenzo Marsaglia of the Marina Militare sports group and Giovanni Tocci (Army) will be vice world champions in the 3 meter synchro springboard: a historic silver, first world championship medal in the specialty for Italian diving and first medal for Italy at the Doha 2024 World Water Sports Championships behind only the world champions, the Chinese Long Daoyi and Wang Zongyuan.

The final was long, tiring and hard-fought and in the fifth round, where errors are no longer allowed, Marsaglia and Tocci do not disappoint, they are impeccable and place a solid, elegant and beautiful triple somersault and grouped half-return which leads them to conquer a well-deserved silver medal which is also valid as an Olympic pass.

The European Championships in Rome 2022 have definitively consecrated the 2nd cl sub-chief Marsaglia among the strongest continental divers: he became European champion from 3 meters and was silver from the meter and in synchro from 3 meters.

Eleventh place in the 3-meter springboard at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka also allowed him to get the Olympic card in the individual event.

Two hours earlier we experienced Sarah Jodoin Di Maria's feat from the 10 meter platform:

satisfied and smiling, an exceptional Sarah rewrites the history of Italian diving who, after having obtained the Olympic card with access to the semi-final, placed fifth in the platform final, which put a point on the fourth day of competition; it is in fact the best placing ever achieved by an Italian in a 10 meter world championship event.

Almost flawless performance for the GSMM athlete: he ends the second world championship final of his career with a beautiful vertical with a double somersault backwards with a twist and a half.

Good news also from artistic swimming, in the double free Linda Cerruti (paired with Lucrezia Ruggiero Polizia) obtained another pass to Paris with seventh place.

We look forward to following the next races!
