The new Karate World Champion of the Kumitè specialty is an Army athlete

The 2018 World Senior Karate Championships ended in Madrid (Spain), which saw seven athletes from the Army Olympic Sports Center engaged with the Italian team.

The c.le VFP4 Angelo Crescenzo, at his debut in the "seniores" category, the most important of the event, won the title of world champion of the Kumitè specialty in the 60kg. The fantastic victory was obtained by beating the Japanese Naoto SAGO with an "ippon" to 4 seconds from the end of the final.

The 25-year-old Calabrian athlete, recruited by the Olympic Sports Center of the Army in the 2017, had already stood out internationally in October in the Premier League tournament in Tokyo, winning the gold medal once again.

In addition to the historic success of CRESCENZO, the contribution that the army athletes have given to the national representative engaged in Spain has the following victories: - Individual Bronze in the kata with the c.le magg. Mattia Busato; - Team bronze in the kata with c.le Terryana D'Onofrio; - Team bronze in kumitè with c.le magg. sc. In the Masters; - Team bronze in the kata with Alessandro Iodice.

The 5 medals won witness the talent and great determination that animate the athletes of the Olympic Sports Center of the Army in view of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
