The First Naval Division based in La Spezia completes the first 2018 training at sea

The aero-naval components of the Navy, belonging to various operational commands of the La Spezia headquarters, today completed an important training activity which began on 29 January.

Under the direction of First Naval Division, the crews have practiced multiple activities that represent most of the institutional tasks of the Navy, testing the reaction skills of men and vehicles.

Among the training activities that took place the anti-submarine fight, shooting exercises against naval and air targets, control of merchant traffic and navigation in a dredged channel inside a minefield stand out.

The intense training was done by the destroyer Caio Duilio, from the European Multi Mission Frigates (FREMM) Luigi Rizzo e Carlo Margottini and the team refueling Vesuvio, ships belonging to the First Naval Division, from the minesweepers Rimini, Chioggia e Termoli, of the command of Mine Countermeasure Forces, from the submarine Romeo Romei and from the helicopters of the Fifth Group base in Luni - Sarzana.

The training of the basic forces in La Spezia precedes similar activities that will involve the other commands and components of the armed force, based in Taranto and Augusta.

The aim is to maintain a high standard of capacity Naval Team in order to guarantee operational readiness, flexibility and effectiveness in order to effectively perform daily tasks in defense of the sea and the sea, maritime security for the protection of national strategic interests and activities in favor of the community.
