On 23 March 2024, the tactical commander of the "Safe Mediterranean" operation, Rear Admiral Stefano Frumento, and the Commander of the Ship Bergamini, frigate captain Francesco Salvatorico Coronas, received on board the unit, flagship of the operation, the Honorable Vasileios-Nikolaos A. Ypssilantis, Member of the Hellenic Parliament for the Dodecanese.

During the visit, the deputy was able to get to know firsthand the capabilities of Nave Bergamini and the activities and tasks carried out by the units of the "Safe Mediterranean" operation for maritime security in the Mediterranean.

On the same day, Rear Admiral Frumento and Commander Coronas, accompanied by Commander Sellas Villas, commander of the island's maritime detachment, were welcomed at the Town Hall of Rhodes by the vice mayor of the city, George J. Pattas, and by the president of municipal council, Kiriakos V. Kasapis.

These meetings went beyond the simple scope of courtesy, representing an important moment to strengthen cooperation between the Navy and the Greek authorities, particularly in the Dodecanese region. They have also contributed to further consolidating the ties between Italy and Greece, two Nations united by a common commitment to security and stability in the Mediterranean and, at this particular moment, also in the Red Sea.
