Concluded the Italian-Spanish Field Training Exercise 2-18

The Field Training Exercise (FTX) or FTX EOD 2-18, a week of joint activity between the personnel of the marine brigade, concluded near Cadiz, Spain Saint Mark and Tercio de Armada (TEAR), which operated in the field of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD).

The EOD / IEDD specialists of the 1st San Marco Regiment participated in the activity, organized and managed by the Grupo Mobilidad Anfibia of the Infanteria de Marina Espanola, who carried out the procedures for the reclamation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), a threat not only in operational theaters, but also linked to domestic terrorism.

In detail, the specialists of the Saint Mark, have operated by putting into practice the procedures envisaged for the various types of IEDs (Comand Wire, Remote Control, Suicide, Vehicle Borne and Bomb Factory).

The FTX EOD is one of the several joint exercises provided for in the annual training plan of the San Marco and Tercio de Armada marine brigade which aims to keep the operational level of the Spanish and Italian Landing Force (SILF) always high and in particular to guarantee a level of standardization of the procedures used by the specialist teams, such as to allow the possibility of using Italian-Spanish IEDD teams, in the amphibious operations in which the SILF could be involved.
