The reception starts from the training of new citizens and, the men and women of the Army, accustomed to dealing in missions abroad with different peoples and cultures, constitute an excellence in these activities.

It is on this assumption that "Training to educate and be citizens of the world" is taking place in Trapani, a conference organized by the Badia Grande cooperative in collaboration with the Italian Army dedicated to migrants guests of the Reception Center for Asylum Seekers (CARA) of Salina Grande ( TP). The Badia Grande cooperative, directed by Dr. Maria Concetta Papa, manages the CARA of Trapani in which 260 migrants are hosted.

The security and surveillance of the center has been guaranteed for years, as part of the Safe Roads operation, by the Bersaglieri of the 6 Army Regiment. And precisely from the synergy between the Army and civil society comes the initiative to explain the laws to the guests of the center of our country, the rules for requesting asylum and, not least, the main Italian customs and customs to be respected in order to be able to integrate more and become future "citizens".

To carry out this task, the Army has fielded its cultural mediators, Italian soldiers of African origin who also speak the languages of migrants and who in addition to providing translation work testify with their very presence the possible integration.

During the conference, also dr. Tommaso Mondello, head of immigration for the prefecture. In the province of Trapani alone there are about 2000 requests for political asylum in Italy. The Army has developed thanks to participation in missions abroad a careful sensitivity to issues related to people who live or they come from countries at war or with serious humanitarian problems and work, in these territories, in full respect of local cultures and customs for the maintenance of security and the improvement of the sanitary, social and economic conditions of the populations.
