The Army contributes to the Italian triumph in European swimming

Military athletes of the Army Olympic Sports Center, thanks to the excellent sporting performances at the European Swimming Championships in Rome 2022, they have climbed the podium several times, conquering eleven medals, of which three gold, three silver and five bronze.

The corporal chosen Elena Bertocchi won gold in diving, with the specialty of the 1 meter springboard, thus becoming European champion. The same athlete also won the silver medal in the 3 mt synchro springboard specialty. Two medals also obtained by his teammate, corporal VFP4 Eduard Cristian Timbretti Gugiu, who won gold in the "Team Mixed Event" diving competition and bronze in the 10-meter "Sincro Mixed" one. The caporal major chosen Giovanni Tocci (photo) wins three medals: bronze in the specialties of the 1m and 3m springboard, and silver in the specialty of the 3m synchro springboard.

Prestigious results have been achieved by Army athletes also in the pool. Among these, the 1st corporal Lorenzo Zazzeri, who won gold with the 4X100 freestyle relay.
A silver medal also arrived for the corporal chosen Gabriele Detti, in the men's relay of the 4X200 freestyle mixed.
Two bronzes came from the corporal VFP4 Pier Andrea Matteazzi in the mixed 400 meters, and from the 1st corporal Matteo Ciampi in the 4X200 freestyle relay.
