(To 85 ° RAV "Verona")

Yesterday evening, at the evocative setting of the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera (BS), was held the ninth edition of the "Premio del Vittoriale", an event that also featured the Italian Army as a donor of the cannon carriage that 80 years ago accompanied the body of Gabriele d'Annunzio.

This year's award, entitled "the cosmic energies", has been assigned to the famous Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti.

In this framework, Colonel Gianluca Ficca, commander of the 85 Volunteer Training Regiment (RAV) "Verona" and representing the Italian Army, officially donated to the Vittoriale the restored cannon carriage that escorted the body of the poet Vate during his funeral.

The 75 / 27 gun carriage model 1911, after having crossed the boot, passing from the Scaligera Military Arsenal to the Artillery Command in Bracciano (RM), had finally arrived at the "Giovanni Duca" barracks in Verona, of the 85 ° RAV, where for several years it was exhibited on the parade ground.

Already from the 2014, the Italian Army, on the occasion of the centenary of the Great War, had loaned the cannon to the Vittoriale, which had thus been able to expose it to its visitors. With the definitive cession of the relic, from now on, this will be an integral part of the Vittoriale, thus returning, ideally, to accompany the Poet in his journey beyond life.

The 85 ° RAV, from the 1997, is one of the three regiments of the Italian Army, the only one in the North of Italy, which performs the task of training the young Soldiers, women and men Volunteers in 1 Year Fixed Stops ( VFP1), who decide to embark on a military career by training more than 2.000 every year.
