(April 2012) I have to reach the valley of the Buddhas, Bamiyan's. The two roads that connect it to Kabul are made difficult by the armed gangs that "filter" (read "rob and kill") the vehicles and from the clashes between the Taliban and the army.
The only possibility is to go from the north. I reach Mazar i-sharif and visit Balkh, a splendid place full of "warnings" from the Italian embassy ...
