Visit to Italy by the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces

General Graziano, Chief of Defense Staff, met with General Gadi Eisenkot, chief of staff of the Israeli defense forces, on an official visit to Italy for a series of meetings with military representatives.

The meeting took place in an atmosphere of great cordiality. General Eisenkot was awarded the honor of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

During the official talks with General Graziano, a situation was made on the common security challenges that see Italy engaged in the global fight against terrorism and against ISIS with a contingent of men that is the second in terms of size among Western countries. Another topic dealt with is that of security in the Middle East. The Italian armed forces are one of the main players in Lebanon with its own contingent and with the commander of the UNIFIL mission. Finally, the two chiefs of staff tackled the issue of military cooperation based on an intense program of joint activities and the exchange of experiences gained by the respective armed forces.

Il chief of staff Israeli then continued with the program with a meeting with the Secretary General of Defense and National Armament Director, General sa Carlo Magrassi.

Before concluding his view in Italy, General Eisenkot and General Graziano attended a special forces exercise organized in Pisa by the Army Special Forces command.
