The first shooting competition for the crews of the line cavalry and tank regiments was held

In the presence of army corps general Giovanni Fungo, commander of the land operations forces and dean of the cavalry, the Army deputy chief of staff, army corps general Gaetano Zauner and generals Salvatore Camporeale, Carlo Lamanna, and Massimo Scala, the final day of the Babini - Bitossi Trophy, a training activity in which crews from all the Army's cavalry units took part.

Designed by Cavalry School as part of the initiatives connected to the bicentenary of its foundation and carried out by the 132nd "Ariete" armored brigade and the 32nd Tank Regiment, the competition had the purpose of training the armored / tank crews, increasing the level of amalgam between the units of cavalry of the Army and verify its performance at the same time.

After the preparatory activity carried out during the week and two days of competition, the trophy was won by the 4th Tank Regiment for the crews who "challenged" with the "Ariete" tank and, for the armored crews Centaur, from the “Cavalleggeri di Lodi” regiment (15th).

The Trophy is named after two figures particularly linked to the cavalry and tank specialty: General Valentino Babini, a highly decorated infantry officer, one of the founders of "the Italian armored weapon" and General Gervasio Bitossi, a cavalry officer, also highly decorated to valor, and forerunner of the mechanization of the Arma.​
