"Safe Roads": drug seizure in Rome

Yesterday evening, at the Roma Trastevere railway station, a military patrol of the Italian Army assisted the carabiniere on duty in the detention of two people, one of whom was later in possession of about 5 grams of hashish.

The intervention of the military, belonging to the 6 ° Bersaglieri Regiment of Trapani (TP) and currently engaged in the Operation "Safe Roads" under the command of the "Granatieri di Sardegna" Brigade, comes as a result of raising the level of command of the Grouping " Lazio, Umbria and Abruzzo ", which took place since last April 17, which provides for the employment of most of the men and women of the Grenadier Brigade, as well as internationally, also in the national context, to guarantee security and to prevent petty crime and the fight against terrorist threats in the aforementioned regions.

The security plan in the capital, strengthened through specific directives given by the Prefecture of Rome, provides for a further protection of the "sensitive" places of the city, such as embassies and railway stations, together with other objectives, that the use of the military will allow to monitor seamless.

From August of the 2008 the "Granatieri di Sardegna" Brigade, reinforced by assets of other units, participates in the "Safe Roads" Operation, in coordination with the 2 ° Command of the Defense Forces (2 ° FOD) of San Giorgio a Cremano and in competition and jointly with the Forces of the Order.
