"Safe Roads": put down two fights in Rome

Rome, two particularly important events saw the intervention of soldiers engaged in the "Safe Roads" Operation under the command of the "Granatieri di Sardegna" Brigade.

In Viale dei Fori Imperiali, a military patrol of the 6 ° Bersaglieri Regiment of Trapani (TP), noticed a struggle between two street vendors. She promptly approached them and, with the carabiniere on duty, proceeded to quell the fight and identify those responsible.

At the Anagnina exchange node, on the other hand, another patrol of Bersaglieri of the 6 ° Regiment was informed by an employee of the company ATAC (Transport Authority for Transport of the Municipality of Rome) of a struggle between women inside the underground station . The soldiers promptly went to the place indicated and, with the carabiniere on duty, blocked the women and waited for the arrival of the 118 staff for medical aid.

During the intervention, a member of the patrol was hit by one of the stopped women. The graduate, accompanied at the "Celio" Military Polyclinic, was subsequently discharged with a distortion trauma to the thumb of his right hand.

In the aforementioned events, the prompt intervention of the military meant that the situation did not degenerate, even at the expense of their physical safety.

The raising of the command level of the "Lazio, Umbria and Abruzzo" group within the "Safe Roads" operation, under the command of Brigadier General Maurizio Riccò, involves the employment of most of the men and women of the Brigade Grenadiers, as well as internationally, also in the national context, to guarantee the safety and prevention of petty crime and the fight against terrorist threats in the aforementioned Regions.

The commander of the Regiment congratulated for the constant and very high contribution provided by the personnel involved in the "Safe Roads" Operation, which shows how the presence of the military in the capital area and in all assigned sectors "requires particular training, psycho-efficiency". physical and prompt reactivity "and that application and spirit of sacrifice" are well integrated with the needs of protecting the citizen ".

Since August of 2008, the "Granatieri di Sardegna" Brigade, reinforced by other units, participates in the "Safe Roads" Operation, in coordination with the 2 ° Command of the Defense Forces (2 ° FOD) of San Giorgio a Cremano , which manages around 3000 Italian Army soldiers deployed from Rome to Lampedusa in competition with the Police Forces.
