"Safe Roads": military blocks man in a state of intoxication

In Piazza di Santa Maria Maggiore, in the very center of Rome, an attack was stopped in front of a bar by the soldiers of the Italian Army employed in Operation "Safe Roads".

During the normal surveillance service in front of the famous Basilica, half of thousands of tourists, the military heard female screams coming from the square. As they approached, they saw a man in a state of drunkenness molesting an employee of a bar.

The patrol, without delay, decided to intervene with the intent to calm the man and restore calm. The man, however, in a strong state of alteration, continued with his aggressive and threatening actions, attacking the bartender and then trying to hurl himself against the military.

 The patrol tried to identify the subject but the man reacted even more aggressively.
Given the non-cooperation, the two soldiers were forced to adopt all the defense procedures provided by immobilizing the aggressor. Immediately afterwards, the police operations room was notified and a steering wheel was asked to take the man in, bringing him to the local police station.
