The "Dimonios" of the 152 infantry regiment "Sassari", just returned from Afghanistan last August, where they conducted, within the ISAF mission, six months of intense work not only to support the Afghan security forces in the control of the territory of the province of Herat but also as part of activities in favor of the local population, they returned to Rome for the "Safe Roads" operation.

Leaving the "Gonzaga" barracks in Sassari, where the new regimental commander, the Colonel Raffaele Vladimir Forgione, has just been installed, the newly formed "Sassari" tactical group, placed under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Gianluigi Arca, commander of the 1 battalion of 152 °, since last Wednesday 10 September is responsible for the protection of public order and security of particularly sensitive positions of our capital.

For the "Sassarini" the return to Rome represents the continuation of a period full of operational and training commitments both at home and abroad, including the use of the 152 ° in the 2013, still on the Piazza di Roma, followed by an intense period of preparatory training for the aforementioned deployment in Afghanistan during the first half of the current year, and by the demanding logistical operations connected with the return of the national contingent at home.

The "Dimonios", moreover, have particularly distinguished themselves in the relief activities to the civil population of the city of Olbia, hit by the flood in November of the 2013, receiving the applause from the same population and local and national institutions.

The return to Rome strengthens the strong historical-cultural bond of the "Sassari" brigade with the capital and the entire nation, started with the sacrifice of the "intrepid Sardinians" on the karst plateaus during the First World War, then continued in the defense of Rome after the 8 September 1943, and still in place with the contribution offered by the 152 ° in areas of crisis abroad, including the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.
