Stele in memory of soldier Vannozzi

A moving memory for a boy who gave his life to the Fatherland. A ceremony that excited all the participants and took place yesterday in Vico Pisano (PI), in memory of the first corporal Francesco Vannozzi who fell due to a terrorist attack, during a mission in Afghanistan in the 2010.

The soldier, under the 7th Alpine regiment, was hit by enemy fire while, with his team, he was carrying out a patrol action.

To represent the proximity of the armed force, the presence of Brigadier General Giuseppe Adami, deputy commander of the territory of theMilitary Geographical Institute, who wanted to be next, once again, to the parents of Francesco, Nilo and Lia.

Also present were local authorities including the mayor of Vico Pisano, dr. Taglioli together with a group of comrades from the 7 ° Alpine Regiment and theNational Alpine Association of Pisa.

After laying flowers at the municipal cemetery, the ceremony continued with a moment of recollection in which the prayer of the Alpine was recited. Subsequently, those present went to the public gardens of the city park of San Giovanni alla Vena. A simple but significant ceremony with flag-raising and the laying of a laurel wreath allowed us to pay homage to the stele dedicated to the corporal.
