Relay "The Army marched ..."

19/05/15

The Army wanted to recall Italy's entry into the war in the first conflict by organizing a series of events throughout the country with various promotional activities, such as exhibitions of literature and photography competitions. The aim is to remind the youngest and to share a historical moment of our nation with the elderly.

The role played by the Army has been important in terms of the constitution of the national identity and it is still so for the Italian population. With this project we wanted to continue this path with various promotional activities that will end in the city of Trieste 24 May 2015.

The "relays" that from May 12 are running and will run continuously throughout Italy from the farthest points of our territory to reach Trieste like the torch bearers, will carry a flag symbol of national unity.

In Bari the relay arrived yesterday and three significant moments took place: the arrival that crossed the city through the "Picca" barracks, the headquarters of the Military Command "Puglia" in the presence of both the authorities and the citizens, institutional stands outside the barracks with means of the "Pinerolo" Mechanized Brigade and historical-book exhibition inside, and finally delivery of the matriculation sheets / service status of the grandparents who died in the war of some students of the "Vivante" Commercial Technical Institute and awards ceremony for the winners of the "La via della Grande Guerra" photographic competition residing in the provinces of Bari and Taranto hosted by General Natalino Madeddu.

The Relay then continued with the gen. b. Stefano Del Col towards Barletta where, alternating with other athletes and crossing small and large cities, has arrived in the city of challenge received by a very warm citizenship, by the mayor, the prefect and the commander Nicola Serio.

There was also a very young athlete belonging to the army's sports team, Veronica Inglese, a champion of the 3000, 5000,10000 meters.
