After the experience of "Safe Roads" in Calabria, Sicily and Lazio, the image of the Virgin followed the "Sassarini" in the distant Asian country where, upon their arrival, the military chaplain of the contingent, Father Mariano Asunis, had celebrated a Mass during which the effigy of the Madonna was placed in the chapel of the base.
During the six months of the mission, every Saturday morning, in the church of Sant 'Agostino, and at the same time in the Italian base of "Camp Arena", a mass was celebrated in which the protection of the Madonna was invoked against the soldiers deployed in Herat and their families.
The medal collection of Our Lady, therefore, will be embellished with a new honor: that born for the peace mission in Afghanistan.
