Army bomb squads, members of the 3rd regimental genius regiment of Udine, alerted by the prefecture of Gorizia, carried out a land reclamation intervention from war surpluses of the First World War.
The soldiers went to Monfalcone (GO), in the state-owned area belonging to the Navy, where they took a 76 mm caliber high-explosive artillery shell. The bomb was transported to the bed of the river Torre in the municipality of Medea (GO), where the EOD team (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) provided for the final destruction.
