29/01/15

In Marsala, in the Casablanca district, three unexploded ordnance dating back to the Second World War were found. On the spot a specialized team of the 4 ° Regiment Genio Guastatori of Palermo intervened which is employed by the Aosta Brigade of Messina; the sappers who entered into action have a special EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) specialization but are more commonly referred to as bomb disposal personnel.

The artifacts were identified by the military as three Italian-made 47 / 32 mm artillery projectiles, the complete finds were loaded with high potential explosives.

The poor state of conservation of the ordnance made their destruction necessary, the Italian Army soldiers carried out the operation safely near the place of the discovery, that is in a quarry in the district Cicco d'Enna.

Since the beginning of the year the specialists of the 4 Army Regiment Genio Guastatori of Palermo have already completed 3 reclamation interventions in the Sicilian territory, with the relative defusing or destruction of the ordnance found.
