General Errico, Chief of Staff of the Army, in his speech underlined how the Bersaglieri from the 1858, the year of the flood of Savona, contribute with their intervention to all the emergencies of the Country, and still continue to distinguish themselves for humanity , audacity, dedication and spirit of sacrifice, proving to be among the soldiers most loved by the Italians of the Army.
The bersaglieri are a corps of the Army born as an elite celestial infantry founded the 18 June 1836 by general Alessandro La Marmora, and since then they have participated in all the operations of the Italian Army both in international missions (currently in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Kosovo, Somalia and Djibouti just to mention the main ones) and to all civil protection emergencies and competition for police forces in Italy.
The National Bersaglieri Association works with its volunteers, former soldiers who have been active in the bersaglieri departments, in the National Civil Protection which currently contributes with 12 teams ready to be used and stands out in all the municipalities where there is a section for initiatives of solidarity.
