(To Army Majority State)
18/11/15

In the presence of the Undersecretary of State for Defense, the Hon. Gioacchino Alfano, of the Chief of the Defense Staff, General Claudio Graziano and the Chief of Staff of the Army, Army Corps General Danilo Errico was presented on CalendExercise 2016: "Italians". A calendar to browse throughout the year, dedicated to Italian men and women, peasants, workers, artists, intellectuals, employees, parents, grandparents and children who contributed, participated and lived the Great War.

The close relationship between the Army and society, born during the first World War, is the guiding thread that guides, still today, the action and being of our Armed Forces whose center of gravity remains the "soldier".

An Army increasingly engaged in the homeland and in the world, a professional Army of men and women who share the same values, sentiments of the Italians who fought for the unity of the country.
In the CalendEsercito 2016 there are not only military heroes but also heroes of everyday life who were born in the 1916 (central page of the calendar, by Arnoldo Foà, Raf Vallone, Giorgio Bassani, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Ondina Valla, Luigi Comencini, Natalia Ginzburg, Paolo Budinich, Aldo Moro, Marcello Morante, Ugo Mursia and Dino Risi) have contributed over the years to the growth of the country.

During the event the new institutional logo of the Army was presented, consisting of the five-pointed star, first studied by Pythagoras, simple, coherent and impactful. The star contains in itself the meanings of light, guidance and distinction and is accompanied by the inscription Army.

General Errico, in answering the questions of professor Broccoli, presenter of the event, stated that "for the 2016 the Army has undertaken an editorial choice that aims to confirm, through a reading in time and a continuous reference between past and present , its unchanged role as an institution at the service of the country and the same value bases that the military of today shares with those who sacrificed themselves in the first world war for the fulfillment of national unity and the liberation of the last unredeemed territories ".
