Book presented on the commitment of grenadiers in Lebanon

Yesterday in Rome, at the Historical Museum of the Grenadiers of Sardinia, the book Lebanon, Leonte XV, the mechanized brigade of the Grenadiers of Sardinia in the land of the cedars 2013 - 2014 which tells the engagement in Lebanon of the oldest great army unit .

The presentation began with an intervention by the brigade commander, General Maurizio Riccò who explained the operation Leonte XV, which began in October 2013 and ended in April 2014, illustrating the intervention of the brigade in Lebanon, from the activities of the military in support of the Lebanese armed forces, to support activities for the population. Speech then assisted by a video that, through splendid images, showed the public the activities of the brigade in the land of the cedars.

General Riccò then introduced and gave the floor to the author of the book, the (retired) general of the grenadiers Ernesto Bonelli who explained the different sections of the volume, telling anecdotes that he reported in his book. Great importance was given to the women present in the brigade, who with their presence in Lebanon facilitated the activities of CIMIC.

Lebanon, Leonte XV the Granatieri di Sardegna mechanized brigade in the land of cedars 2013 - 2014 is a book full of images, documents and testimonies and represents a journey that retraces the steps of the Granatieri di Sardegna brigade from preparation for employment in the "land" dei cedri ", passing through the departure and the operational mission, ending with the return to the homeland.

At the end of the presentation, General Riccò and the grenadier Bonelli delivered a volume to the representatives of the various departments and a copy was placed on the bulletin board inside the museum together with the honors awarded to the brigade during Operation Leonte XV.

The "Leonte" operation is an Italian military mission under the auspices of the UN started in the 2006 and takes its name from the largest river in Lebanon that delimits the area in which the Italian contingent operates, in the western sector of the region.

The Granatieri di Sardegna brigade was employed in Albania (2000 and 2002), in Kosovo (2005, 2007 and 2008), on the national territory as part of the "Domino" operation in 2001 and is currently engaged in the "safe roads" operation ", in competition with the police.
