To illustrate the program of the event, which will officially begin on 25 January with the opening ceremony, the parade of athletes and the lighting of the tripod in the center of Sestriere (live streaming on the websites www.esercito.difesa.it e www.ana.it since 15.00), this morning was General Federico Bonato, Commander of the Alpine Troops.

Many competitions, which in a busy week will involve the numerous representatives to win the trophies and the titles of "Italian Army Champion" in the various sports disciplines. Also planned is the holding of 2 FIS races of the Women's European Cup, which will be broadcast live by Rai Sport.

But the queen race of the championships is confirmed to be the competition between the platoons, divided into three days, in which the platoons of the Alpine regiments and foreign nations participating face a challenging ski mountaineering movement with various selective tests - including firing with the weapons supplied , precision launch of the inert hand grenade, a topographical test and a search run over by avalanches, two time trials and a giant slalom - made even more demanding by the weight of the individual equipment.

There will be numerous collateral activities, with the inevitable concert of the brass band of the "Taurinense" alpine brigade and the spectacular night torchlight procession, which will contribute to making the calendar of the event particularly rich and exciting.

An exercise is also planned in which, once the athletes have stopped playing, the Alpini will demonstrate their ability to live, move and fight in extreme environments such as the snow-covered one.

An edition, that of the 2016, characterized by the commitment of the Alpine troops to the Italian Paralympic Winter Sports Federation, for which a fundraiser will be promoted for the duration of the event.

In this regard, General Bonato pointed out that the Paralympic area is a sports sector that also closely touches Defense personnel who, operating at home or outside national borders, have contracted injuries or disabling and permanent diseases in the fulfillment of their must. Through the practice of sport, Paralympic athletes train to win not just a simple sporting challenge but the most important one against an adverse destiny that has tried to stop them.
