In his farewell address, General Battisti highlighted how NRDC-ITA is a multinational and inter-force reality, made up of personnel from 15 nations who contribute to its staff.
And heterogeneity represents added value and a fundamental strength for NRDC-ITA as it demonstrates the capacity for cohesion and collective response that the participating nations want to express. As evidence of this, other nations will soon contribute to increasing the excellence of this command. In fact, as of 2016, Croatia and Albania are also part of it. General Battisti then recalled how the NRDC-ITA community is fully integrated into the local reality and into the territory of the province of Varese and the municipalities of the Olona Valley.
It also highlights how staff staff families are encouraged to take part in numerous initiatives through dedicated dedicated associations and that NRDC-ITA staff often play an active role in the various local communities, collaborating with schools, clubs and municipal organizations. General Battisti, an Alpine officer, has commanded NRDC-ITA for over three years, starting from 30 June 2011.
Under his command, NRDC-ITA has conducted numerous operational and training activities, among which stands out the contribution that the NATO command of Solbiate provided to the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in 2013, during which the general held the prestigious position of chief of staff. General Battisti, who handed over the command to General Riccardo Marchiò, will now hold the post of Inspector of Army Infrastructures: the presence of the banners of the Lombardy region, of the provinces of Milan and Varese, of the municipalities of Busto Arsizio and Solbiate Olona and the comrades of combat and weapon associations, gave the event the right solemnity.
