"Expo" operation, intervention at the central station

12/06/15

Milan, an Italian Army patrol, engaged in the "Expo" operation intervened at the Milan Central Station to rescue a seriously injured person.

The soldiers, belonging to the Lombardy Tactical Grouping, with Brigadier General Claudio Rondano in command, were engaged in the patrol service at the station, when they were warned by some travelers of an attack inside a shop against a man.

The Army patrol immediately intervened with the Railway Police and, having arrived at the site, found the shop owner with deep stab wounds on his neck and arm.

Given the intense blood loss, the men of Colonel Elio Babbo, commander of the "Lancieri di Novara (5 °)" Regiment, promptly called emergency medical assistance and, to avoid bleeding, buffered wounds with gauze and bands in the individual first aid kits supplied. The injured person was then taken to the hospital in red code.

At the same time, other police patrols arrived to look for the attacker who had escaped before the intervention of the military, leaving a ceramic kitchen knife in place.
