Open Day at Palazzo Esercito

The next 21 November, Palazzo Esercito, the main headquarters of the General Secretariat of Defense / DNA and the General Staff of the Army, will open to the public the via Napoli gate 41 for guided tours, also in English, from 14.00 to 19.00.

The event, planned as part of the three-year program for transparency and integrity of the Ministry of Defense, is aimed at making citizens aware of the organizational and working reality of the department and is open to all those who have an interest in admiring the masterpieces and the architectural and figurative preciousness that characterize the historic and monumental building.

The visit, in addition to the reception rooms of the General Secretariat of Defense and the National Directorate of Armaments, furnished with fine furniture and paintings depicting salient moments in the history of Italy, will allow access to the central military library of the General Staff of the Army, where precious volumes and interesting documents belonging to the national historical-literary heritage are preserved.

Also this year, as in the previous edition, at the exit from Palazzo Esercito, visitors who so wish will be accompanied to the Vittoriano in Piazza Venezia by shuttle bus, to continue the tour itinerary inside the Memorial of the Flags. , a complex placed under the responsibility of Segredifesa which houses, in addition to war flags, also particularly important relics relating to the wars fought by the Italian armed forces. The area of ​​the Memorial includes the crypt and the chapel of the Unknown Soldier, entrusted to the custody of the General Commissariat for Honors to the Fallen of the Ministry of Defense.

During the visit, totally free and punctuated with admissions in groups of 20/25 visitors, promotional and historical-documentary material will be distributed concerning the institutional activities carried out by the General Secretariat of Defense / DNA.
