New skills at the "Sforzesca"

In recent days, at the training areas of Montestabiata and Campo Felice (AQ), the exercise that saw the collaboration of soldiers of the 9th Alpine Regiment and of the 17th artillery Regiment "Sforzesca" with very short range , based on the Stinger weapon system.

The activity, which started last year in the same training area, lasted for a week and represents the final phase of an intense training cycle in a snowy and compartmentalised environment.

The exercise conducted by stinger shooting posts in a "mountain" configuration, together with the 9 ° Alpine Regiment stationed at Aquila, has enabled the level of training achieved by the women and men of the "Sforzesca" to be verified.

Knowing how to live, move and fight in a snowy and compartmentalised operating environment, using skis, snowmobiles and all-terrain tracked vehicles BV206, represented the achievement of a fundamental milestone for the 17 ° Artillery Regiment, a counter-aircraft unit that must be able to be readily and quickly usable.

The exercise, which falls within the specific activities of the Italian army to ensure a high level of training of its staff and promptness of use, as well as demonstrate the ability of the specialty to know how to operate in any operating environment, allowed to verify the functions command and control tactical counter-aircraft and the level of preparation achieved by the artillery of the "Sforzesca" in supporting the alpine infantry units.
