The Italian-French brigade command is born

The headquarters of the exercise received today the visit of the army corps general Alberto Primicerj, commander of the terrestrial operational forces, accompanied by General Rivot, deputy commander of the French land forces.

The bi-national brigade command is a mixed unit, not permanent, but flexible, mobile, modular and expandable, therefore adaptable to the missions of missions in the United Nations, NATO and European Union. Promptly employable, it brings together the expertise of two units specialized in operating in hostile environments and in high-intensity scenarios, as well as being the initial deployment force of a larger contingent.

In the framework of a new European security strategy, based on mutated global geopolitical balances, the new brigade command responds, among other things, to the needs of a more integrated and sustainable European defense, in the name of a synergistic, rational and efficient use. of the forces.

The idea of ​​the bi-national brigade command arose in the 2009 following the summit meeting of the French and Italian political authorities, agreeing on the need to tackle the emerging crises in the new international scenario through closer cooperation between the armies of the two nations. In 2010 the project becomes part of bilateral talks between the major states with the drafting of a letter of intent that outlines the key points of development. In 2011, when the respective defense ministers sign the technical agreements, the concept of use of the brigade takes shape and the steps for reaching the operational capacity of the command are defined.

In the two-year period 2012 - 13 the joint training of the two brigades begins and intensifies, involving alpine and chasseurs alpins in numerous bilateral, operational and coordination and standardization activities. Developed on the natural terrain of the two units - the mountain - the Italian and French departments have shared ascents, ski raids and mountaineering training in the high mountains.

The exercise, which took place over a period of two weeks, was aimed at training, through the activation of CeSiVa specialists, brigade personnel to solve operational problems in a complex and high intensity scenario, with appreciation real-time situations, the reaction to unexpected events generated by the simulation of events that require rapid decision-making and the improvement of the internal organization of the command post and of the communication and procedural flows.
