Yesterday morning, in front of the commemorative stele present at the Capitoline cemetery of Verano, a crowd of paratroopers, members of the main weapon associations and simple fellow citizens honored the memory of those who over seventy years ago shed their blood for consistency with their ideals. Leading the procession was Adriano Tocchi, the president of the Roman section of the ANPdI (National Association of Paratroopers of Italy).
It is not indifferent, in times when even the national interest has disappeared from the agenda, to honor those who gave their lives for sure personal disinterest.
This has always been Italy: the country - a historic dictate of allies and enemies - with the best soldiers in the world.
