In these days, Italy takes part in the Swimming and Paraswimming Open 2015, an international military swimming and paranuoto competition, open to both "able-bodied" athletes and those with disabilities.

The event, organized by the International Council of Military Sports (CISM) sees the participation of about 140 athletes from 15 nations who have joined the invitation.

The Italian delegation is made up of four Paralympic military athletes, members of the newly established Paralympic Defense Sports Group, recently born from the joint commitment of the General Staff of Defense and the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP).

The Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Luigi Binelli Mantelli, expressed great satisfaction with the result achieved which crowns the commitment and dedication of Paralympic military athletes and also represents a significant signal in the growth process of the Paralympic Defense movement in the field international.

The international event represents another opportunity to confirm the excellent results obtained by Italy through the Paralympic athletes of the Armed Forces, who took part in the Invictus Games in London.
