The Italian Army will be present at the 3rd edition of the Rally di Roma Capitale, penultimate stage of the Italian Rally Championship, which will take place in Rome and in some locations in Lazio from 18 to 20 September.
Three days of competition distributed in twelve special stages, starting from the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome (EUR) and arriving at the Lido di Ostia, in the center of the historic Pontile della Vittoria.
The prestigious event will give the public the opportunity to closely admire the spectacular performances of the powerful WRC (World Rally Car) cars.
The course, entirely on a tarmac background, will be a theater of highly technical challenges and the city of Fiuggi, a famous spa town in the province of Frosinone, will be the nerve center of the race, with rearrangements and technical assistance. The “service areas” will be located in this town, places where the public will have the opportunity to see teams, mechanics, trainers and drivers in action in the hectic operations typical of high-level motor racing.
The Army, which has always been close to the world of engines, having been one of the first institutions in united Italy to be equipped with endothermic engine vehicles, will be present with a promotional device coordinated by the Military Command of the Capital and with specific health facilities.
An infoteam of the 1st Regiment "Granatieri di Sardegna" will be available to the public to provide information and illustrate material on the possibilities of recruitment and on the competitions currently in progress. The stand will also display a “Lince” Light Multirole Tactical Vehicle (VTLM), a vehicle used daily in out-of-area operations for territorial control and to provide support and assistance to the local population.
In particular, the “Lince”, thanks to the 4x4 all-wheel drive and the specific study of the transport cell, can be used in any operating environment. In the phases preceding the departure of the first special stage in Rome, there will also be music by order of the Transport and Materials School, a military body that takes care of the training, specialization, qualification and updating of personnel in the Transport and Materials sector. The musical ensemble will delight the public with some pieces selected for the occasion. In addition, a military ambulance, with related medical personnel from the Central Logistics Group, will contribute to the medical device provided for the special event.
