The Army celebrates the Infantry Weapon

(To Infantry school)
24/05/16

The Feast of the Infantry was celebrated today at the "Bartolomei" barracks in Cesano, in the presence of the commander for training, specialization and doctrine of the Army, general of the army corps Giorgio Battisti and numerous civil authorities, including which the president of the district of Cesano Daniele Torquati.

During the celebration, linked to the anniversary of the Great War, the commander of the Infantry School, Brigadier General Massimo Mingiardi, proceeded to change the infantry flag of the war flag, symbol for every soldier of the homeland. The new and the old tricolor, placed side by side, have exchanged places: the old cloth, now worn out and a memory of the past and of history, has given way to new commitments, new goals, new challenges to which the foot soldiers of Italy will be called.

To frame the exciting ceremony hundreds of children from the schools of the Institutes of Education in Cesano and surroundings and the representatives of the Combatant Associations and of Arms with their labari and medals. The students had the opportunity to witness the landing of a team of paratroopers of the Army Sports Group, which performed a free-fall technique launch.

At the end of the ceremony, the students tried military training, testing the crossing of the Tibetan bridge and climbing the artificial rock wall. In addition, an exhibition of the most modern infantry equipment and vehicles has been set up on the barracks square, including the "Dardo" crawler and the "Lince" and "Freccia 8x8" armored vehicles, used by Italian contingents abroad.

The Infantry Weapon, which has always been called "the queen of battles", represents the very image of armies, of mass combat, of trenches. Today the infantry soldier is a technologically advanced fighter who represents a decisive element in the modern army employment scenarios.

The Infantry Weapon with its specialties, grenadiers, bersaglieri, alpine, paratroopers and lagoons, continues to guarantee, with competence and humanity, support and protection to the population both in Italy and abroad.
