On the evocative background of the monumental seafront of Bari, this morning the ritual ceremony of the flag-raising ceremony took place, in the presence of Brigadier General Mauro Prezioso, territorial commander of the Army in Puglia, of the vice mayor of Bari, dott. Vincenzo Brandi, of combat and weapon associations and a large representation of students.
The notes of the "singing of the Italians" were matched by the band of the mechanized brigade "Pinerolo" and accompanied by the thundering voice of the tenor Maestro Antonio Stragapede and the soprano Catia Barile, while a platoon in arms of the Bari military interforces garrison made the honors national flag that, raising itself, it garriva to the wind.
In addition to the tricolor, the city banner was raised in the traditional white and red colors by a local police representative in Bari.
General Prezioso highlighted how the sense of belonging to the homeland is built through values and rituals. Values such as duty, sacrifice, love of country, and rituals such as that of the flag raising. The Army condenses these peculiarities, so much so that in the collective imagination it identifies with the same idea of homeland.
At the end of the ceremony, after a short concert by the band of the "Pinerolo" brigade, certificates of recognition were given to personalities who in 2016 distinguished themselves for having actively participated in activities organized by the "Puglia" Army Military Command.
Subsequently, at the barracks "D. Picca "headquarters of the Puglia Army Command, an orientation conference was held for students attending the activity from the “Vivante” and “Cirillo” high schools in Bari.
