The Army bomb squad, belonging to the 5th sapper engineer regiment of the "Sassari" brigade, carried out the blasting of a bomb dating back to the Second World War which was found on the Golgo plateau, in the hinterland of Baunei (NU) .

The intervention, aimed at removing a hand grenade of Italian nationality, which was particularly complex due to the place of discovery, a cave 30 meters deep, also required the support of the national mountain and speleological rescue body, of the Italian Red Cross, of Alpine rescue of the financial police and the carabinieri of the Baunei station.

The cleanup by the bomb squad of the 5th sapper engineering regiment required clearing a radius of approximately 400 meters from the blasting site. The descent into the cavity to collect the bomb from the discovery site was carried out using specific lowering and recovery techniques for speleological rescue.

The blasting operations were authorized and coordinated by the command of the Southern operational forces of Naples, following an express request from the prefecture of Nuoro.
