Red Cross nurses at the XXIX International Book Fair in Turin

(To CRI volunteer nursing corps)
13/05/16

For the fourth time the Turin Book Fair will host a stand dedicated to auxiliary bodies for the armed forces of the Italian Red Cross. Never before in this edition the presence of Red Cross nurses is full of meaning; on this occasion, the theme of the international review is dedicated to the "Vision" and no one like the Red Cross nurses can testify that they have lived in first person, in peace and in war, the vision of good for others. The purpose of this qualified presence is to witness precisely the vision of good according to this modern meaning.

In addition to being present with books that talk about humanity and history, personal achievements and competitions for public needs, war and reconstruction, international disasters and beautiful family stories, Italian Red Cross will distribute in several daily appointments some notions of first aid, useful in all circumstances, and will organize a point of control of basic health parameters such as blood pressure and blood sugar, available to all visitors free of charge.

A program always full of encounters and surprises that will be revealed daily and that will lead to guests of exceptional importance passing through the doors of stand T27-U71 in pavilion 3.

Yesterday, as soon as the gates of the Ingot in Turin even the Red Cross nurses immediately set to work in a stand dominated by the red and white colors that was literally stormed by school groups and numerous visitors. Many took advantage of the health information point provided by the Italian Red Cross in which anyone could receive advice, have some clinical parameters checked and distribute gadgets and smiles.

Very interesting are the scheduled appointments that have seen some elementary first aid concepts given in a fun didactic curtain that will be repeated, rhythmically, even in the next few days. The Mayor of Turin Piero Fassino, the president of the Piedmont region Sergio Chiamparino and the emeritus president of the Italian republic Giorgio Napolitano also greeted the staff present in the space dedicated to auxiliary bodies for the Italian Red Cross armed forces.

Today's agenda includes, in addition to the usual appointments with basic health information and the station with the rapid control of the parameters, also a moment of reconciliation between historical and musical memory.

The historian and popularizer Michele D'Andrea will talk about his essay "Palle Girate" accompanied by a guitar.
