From February 2 to 12, the Italian-French NSBNBC Brigade (Not Standing Bi-National Brigade Command) is engaged in the "Transalpine Bond" exercise to achieve Full Operational Capability.

It is a training activity, developed with the help of the simulation systems of the Command Center for Seats of the French Army of Mailly, which involves the Alpine troops of the Taurinense Brigade and the French Chasseurs alpins of the 27th Infantry Brigade from Mountain.

The exercise follows that of last November in Bracciano in Italy and completes the training cycle started in the 2013 by the transalpine command. Through the activations of the specialists, the preparation of the Brigade's personnel for the solution of operational problems in a complex and high intensity scenario, the assessment of real-time situations, the reaction to unforeseen events generated by rapid decision-making and the improvement of the internal organization of the Command post and communication and procedural flows.

During the validation activity the nascent bi-national Command received the visit of the army corps general Alberto Primicerj, commander of the terrestrial Operative Forces, accompanied by the general counterpart of the army corps Sainte-Claire Deville, commander of the French Land Forces.

The bi-national Brigade Command is a mixed, non-permanent unit that can be used for missions within the United Nations, NATO and the European Union. Thanks to the operational skills and operational experience gained by the two units in the international arena, it can be used in different types of scenarios.

In the framework of a new European security strategy, based on the changed global geopolitical balance, the new Command Brigade responds, among other things, to the needs of a more integrated and sustainable European defense, in the name of a synergistic, rational and efficient use of forces.

The idea of the bi-national Brigade Command arose in the 2009 following the summit meeting of the French and Italian political authorities, agreed on the need to address emerging crises in the new international scenario through closer cooperation between the Armies of the two Nations. In the 2010 the Project becomes part of the bilateral talks between the Major States with the drafting of a Letter of Intent that outlines the key points of development. In the 2011, when the respective defense ministers sign the technical agreements, the concept of employment of the Brigade takes shape and the phases are defined for the attainment of the operational capacity of the Command. In the two-year period 2012 - 13 the joint training of the two Brigades begins and intensifies, involving Alpini and Chasseurs Alpins in numerous bilateral, operational and coordination and standardization activities. Developed on the natural terrain of the two units - the mountain - the Italian and French departments have also shared ascents, ski raids and mountaineering training.
