The Army's Taurinense Alpine Brigade trains United Nations officials

The theoretical-practical module of the course reserved for UN officials about to be employed in high-risk areas concluded in recent days. The training activities, which lasted one working day, were directed by the instructors of the Army's Alpine troops at the "Generale Dalla Chiesa" barracks in Fossano, headquarters of the 32nd engineer sappers regiment.

The lessons, carried out both by UN personnel and by military instructors of the Alpine Brigade Taurinense, concerned various topics relating to the management of risk situations connected to missions in sensitive areas such as contrasting the threat deriving from the presence of explosive devices, the organization of humanitarian convoys, communication security procedures, the correct reaction to events such as the taking of hostages and the implementation of first aid techniques. All the different scenarios have been reproduced, with high realism, in the extensive training area of ​​the 32nd sappers.

The over 30 participants, coming from the various branches and realities of the United Nations, thus had the opportunity to make use of the expertise and skills of the men and women of the Taurinense and in particular of the 32nd sappers, 1st mountain artillery, logistic regiment and command department and tactical supports. Men and women with a long and consolidated operational experience gained in almost thirty years of international operations, under the aegis of the UN, NATO and the European Union, in all the main crisis scenarios.

Fruit of the partnership between lo Staff College of the United Nations (UNSSC) of Turin and the Taurinense Alpine Brigade of the Army, the one that has just ended is the second of the "Field Days" that will take place during 2023 in accordance with the provisions of the memorandum of understanding signed on 14 June 2017 between the General Staff of the Defense and the United Nations System Staff College for cooperation in the field of education.
