"La Taurinense, in peacekeeping and peace enforcing missions in Mozambique, Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania and Afghanistan, has fought wars and brought tranquility and peace, strengthening the foundations for an unquestionably better life by helping with cooperation operations Civil and Military, the people to see the light again after periods of absolute darkness ".

This was stated by the mayor of Turin, Piero Fassino, during the ceremony held in the Sala Rossa of the civic building for the conferral of honorary citizenship to the Alpine Brigade Taurinense.

It was also recalled the fundamental contribution of the Alpine troops of Taurinense for the Safe Roads operation which sees them, together with the Police Forces, to monitor the safety in some areas of Turin and in other Italian cities, for all the activities of reclamation linked to the discovery of war remnants and aid to populations affected by natural events. The contribution of the military in the context of the Susa valley in the Chiomonte TAV shipyard area was extremely important.

The ceremony was certainly a moment of celebration, but also of profound reflection. "The work of the soldier employed abroad - the mayor of Turin concluded - involves very high risks; some may be calculated, weighted, intuited, avoided; others may not. It is with emotion that we think back to men and women who sacrificed the their life in the fulfillment of duty, or that still today bear upon their bodies the immutable signs of this dedication to our Italy ".

During the ceremony the president of the municipal council, Giovanni Porcino, read a message of hope for the conferment of the honorary Citizenship of the Minister of Defense, Roberta Pinotti.

"As Commander of the Taurinense Brigade, who will leave his office in a few days, I could not receive a better gift". General Massimo Panizzi, Commander of the Taurinense highlighted. "We consider it an important goal, but also a starting point, to build an increasingly solid and fruitful reciprocal bond. Our mission, as you know, is to make us always ready when we are asked to intervene. We will try not to disappoint expectations, to be Alpini, and now Cittadini di Torino, more and more worthy ".

Among the many commanders who succeeded each other at the top of the Brigade there is also the current Chief of Staff of Defense, General Claudio Graziano.
