Under agreements signed between the countries belonging to the European Union, the Italian Army, together with the Armies of France, Great Britain and Germany, directed an international conference on the subject of military training, which began last Tuesday, 21 April, and ended yesterday afternoon at the Infantry School, in Cesano di Roma.

The event, organized by the General Staff and the Army Training, Specialization and Doctrine Command, saw, as speakers, officers belonging to the Armed Forces of four European countries, coming from the Italian and French military schools and training institutes, German and British.

Division General Giovanni Manione, commander of the Infantry School, formally started the conference work by receiving the authorities and guests at the Institute's Aula Magna.

Many themes were examined and particular attention was paid to the new procedures for the use of infantry teams and platoons called upon to operate in different environmental contexts, from the desert to urban areas, taking into account the operational and strategic scenarios that in recent days they are opening up internationally.

At the center of attention are military equipment and armament, which must constitute the individual endowment of the military professional. The speakers analyzed the aspects related to the weight of the equipment, evaluating the consequences this can have on the use of the troops and on their greater mobility despite the protection and vice versa.

The authorities and guests visited an exhibition of vehicles, materials and weapons in use and soon to be introduced in the Italian Army departments and saw their operation live during a shooting demonstration at the Polygon in the gallery of the barracks .

On display is the “Lince” Multirole Vehicle with Hitrole turret, the new “Freccia” armored mortar-carrying vehicle from 120 mm, and new devices looking for mines and mini-UAVs used for aerial surveillance and remote-controlled remote control. Effective riflemen at the School then carried out a training demonstration of control and mopping up of a built-up area, implementing some individual and team techniques learned during basic infantry training: abseiling, evacuation and evacuation procedures of wounded soldiers, etc.

The Infantry School, an important center of the Italian Army for the training and specialization of military personnel, which boasts one of the largest military districts in Europe, has already promoted special seminars on the subject of military training. The joint effort by the military leaders has allowed a standardization of the procedures of use of military units and an improvement of the materials and equipment supplied to our soldiers.
