The purpose of the exercise is to certify the achievement of the full operational capacity of the battle group European, a rapid intervention military force available to the European Union to be used in any theaters of international crisis as early as next January.
Exercise the armed forces belonging to DECI (Defense Cooperation Initiative), an initiative of military cooperation which includes the armed forces of Italy, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and, recently, also of Albania, present here with a nucleus of observers.
Soldiers belonging to the five countries have therefore already flowed into Friuli last week and from today, thanks to the high integration capacity that distinguishes the troops in the field, they will work jointly in different training areas of the province of Udine directed by the command of the Alpine Brigade Julia, a unit of the Italian Army which also holds the role of leader of the MLF (Multinational Land Force), a land force that also includes Slovenia and Hungary.
The largest contingent is the Italian one, which deploys over 1.200 men and specialized assets capable of developing and managing, in a context of marked interoperability, the broadest scenario of events that can characterize military employment in support of a nation affected by a crisis situation.
