Undersecretary of Defense Rossi in Asiago remembers the fallen of the Sassari Brigade

The Undersecretary of State for Defense Domenico Rossi spoke today on the occasion of the centenary of the battle of Mount Zebio to commemorate the fallen of the Sassari brigade in the First World War.

At the ceremony, which took place in the place where 218 Sardinian soldiers were buried and buried, the first citizen of Asiago Roberto Rigoni Stern and over 60 mayors of the Sardinian municipalities who came to Veneto to pay homage to their fallen attended.

"Sardinia has paid a very high price, in terms of human lives, in the First World War"- said Undersecretary Rossi -"Men, boys who stood out for their courage, value and spirit of sacrifice".

In his speech Rossi then recalled the importance of "be Europe, especially today when we are faced with a global threat, increasingly asymmetrical and unpredictable, which does not exclude any nation".

Mount Zebio was the scene of bloody battles during the Great War. The ceremony is part of the celebratory events of the centenary of the First World War. 

Today the Sassari brigade is one of the large army units engaged abroad and on the national territory. In total there are 37 missions in which the Defense participates, of which 35 are international in 23 countries where a total of about seven thousand men and women operate. As many are employed in the operation Safe Roads, in competition with the police forces.
